Conferences

The Association for the Anthropology of Consciousness has held yearly conferences on the intersection of anthropological studies with consciousness research for over 40 years. We also participate in the yearly international conference of the American Anthropological Association with a series of panels, invited roundtables, keynotes, and workshops on the study of consciousness through cultural frames; dreams, visions, and shamanic journeys; and the integration of “non-ordinary states of consciousness” into academic discussions of the nature and “origins” of consciousness.

The following video is a recorded session from our Spring 2021 section meeting entitled, “Sea Change and Ecological Upheaval.” It features AAC Board members Drs. Sharon Mijares and Dhardon Sharling discussing “Buddhist and Feminist Approaches to Climate and Ecology.” For more videos and recorded sessions, please visit our YouTube channel.

Below are some of the conference programs from previous years and the current year. Please visit our YouTube channel, Events Page, and social media for more information on previous and upcoming conferences.
